Monday cometh

Here comes Monday. I'm in no mood to blog, I wonder what else I can do with this. I can tell you that Max is curled up on my bed next to my anatomy book, pretending to sleep until I get busy enough to ignore him licking his little armpit lickoma. My anatomy book is sitting on top of my physiology notebook, which is sitting on top of an askew stack of cranial nerve worksheets. Ventral to that pile is the blessed Merck manual, open to a lovely description of organophospate toxicity minus a description of normal acetylcholinesterase levels in the blood. Gotta poke around online beyond normal limits of patience before that can be found. To the right of Merck is my whopper Medical Physiology book. Not useful in today's projects. Over on the chair is my anatomy notebook, flipped through long enough to tag all of the sections tested this Thursday and be slightly astounded at how many there were. Over on my desk is a small animal practice book, open to a painfully brief description of organophosphate intoxication. Behind that is my neuroanatomy book... AHH! T.M.I. I did all of my laundry, I cleaned the chicken coop and rabbit cage, I watched the Rockies lose. I went for a short jaunt in the sun on my trusty steed who needs her front shoes back on I think, and I found the dorsal ganglia of X. I gave God about 4 min of thought and wished I had given Him more, as none of this really matters relative to that. Tomorrow is a new shot at a Monday, a new chance to let God have my numerous concerns as I keep coming to the conclusion that nobody is under my control but myself. SUCKS! Or maybe that's a good thing. Humans are indeed a violent species, and violent thoughts must not be neglected in the assessment...
...for when we build a case against someone, we commit an act of violence. Walk away from it, don't think about it, preoccupy yourself... no matter. It is hate in its little cloak of justification, and if you don't look directly at it it doesn't really seem to be there. Be wary of the day it no longer even appears to be out of place.

Unforgettable words from the top

Class of 2011: Here's what I would suggest for the coming week. Instead of greeting each other with "Hi" or "how's it going", let's all say "insulin-like growth factor 1" when passing in the hall or cubes. Not "interleukin-2", nor "intersomething growth factor", nor even my personal favorite "intergamma furon". Certainly about 1/3rd of you don't need this exercise, but I think it would be best for the whole class to participate.

Week... something.

Sigh. It's 9:23 p.m. and I have not yet studied the heart.

Things that made me laugh:

1. A guy asking Dr. Frye to write a long definition on the board just to slow her down.
2. Dr. Fails answering my question and then saying... "I suppose you all saw which orifice I pulled that out of."
3. Writing something down on an exam and then realizing that the limb was a front limb, not a hind limb.
4. Inventing the word "scrapula" for a a deformed bone I couldn't remember the name of.
5. A muffled yell and a clunk in the back of the histology lab as a guy killed a wasp for Lauren while Dr. Sandi was lecturing.
6. Imagining a herd of horses with Wobbler's syndrome trying to run.

Things that made me go "Eeeeeyew:"

1. Cups of pus that spilled out of a horse heart sac during necropsy.
2. A picture of a pig with a bubble of meninges on its head.

Things that were scary and/or unpleasant:

1. Cutting the mandible with a bone saw. The smoke, the smell, the NOISE, the idea.
2. Dreaming that snakes were bouncing off the ground and biting me.
3. Getting a call from home because my two of my rats were eating the third one.
4. Eating chicken and knowing what bones I was cleaning.
5. Waking up at 7:04 a.m. before an 8 a.m. class.
6. Several questions involving stringy things on that last exam (i.e. nerves, arteries, veins...)

Things that were sad:

1. The rat that died was one of the nice ones, not the one that bites.
2. Missing rooster.
3. Sad story of a mom killed by a drunk driver after throwing her daughter off the 4-wheeler to save her. Don't drink and drive people.
4. Dreaming I almost got a llama.

Things that were boring:

1. Everything I ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2. Putting air in my tire every three days.

Things that were really nice:

1. Finding candy in my mailbox.
2. Charise's sopapilla cheesecake.
3. Sleeping for 10 hrs Friday night.
4. Watching Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith last Sunday night. "Fear of loss is the pathway to the dark side."

Eowyn

Eowyn

If I were a character in The Lord of the Rings, I would be Eowyn, Woman of Rohan, niece of King Theoden and sister of Eomer.

In the movie, I am played by Miranda Otto.

Who would you be?
