Construction of the WOMBAT (names have been changed to protect classified unpublished science:
The WOMBAT was PCR amplified from a KANGAROO obtained from (X) using primers that incorporated AvrII restriction sites (bold) on each end of the amplicon (holy cow is that a word?). The upstream primer sequence was 5’SCRAMBLEDEGGS-3’ and the downstream primer sequence was 5'GRASSHOPPERS-3.’ The amplified fragment was digested with BOOGERS, purified, cloned into the RABBIT site of the WOOGIE and checked for 3’-5’ orientation (with the 5’ end of the WOMBAT abutting the WOOGIE) using restriction fragment length polymorphism. The modified WOOGIE was digested with MORONS for insertion of a second copy of the RABBIT digested WOMBAT on the opposite side of the WOOGIE, utilizing the compatibility of the RABBIT and FRYING PAN restriction sites. SOMETHING was checked for 5’-3’ orientation using restriction fragment length polymorphism, and the WOMBAT coding regions of the completed WOMBAT vector were sequenced to ensure that no secondary mutations were incorporated during the cloning process. The WOMBAT was amplified in some random bacteria and sent to WALMART to make ELEPHANTS.
I am tired. Last night at 4:31 a.m. following an unexplained power outage I decided there were axe-murderes on the property and snuck three dogs in the car by the light of my cell phone and went to town. I am tired. But alas one must press on, for the times in which one must choose fruit flies over playing Bible trivia must come to an end as soon as possible. All is not lost, for on Saturday I was bitten by a large hog and I am currently morphing into a text-messager so that attempts to do calculus in a lonely cubicle do not irreversibly break the brain. In fact, the USDA is a pretty cool place to work, however I miss my Camille and I need a wee bit more sleep. Llamas warm my soul.
