Hooray. I'm sitting in the lab eating my brother's girlscout cookies because he said I could. I don't deserve them, because I messed up my fruit fly crosses. But at the end of the day it is far better to have messed up your fruit fly crosses and be going to vet school in August than to have messed up your fruit fly crosses and not be going to vet school in August. There's always that. Someday I will give new legs to llamas, I will help cats with chapped lips, I will kill parasites, I will graduate. Overall excitement levels are waning at the moment because 6 cups of coffee have caused my neurons to fuse all across my brain and hundred of thousands of vesicles have gelified to the consistency of boogers and the best they can do in terms of firing is to send a pathetically weak shock wave through the glom. The hum of the lab is really soothing though, and my brainslime is telling me that I love it here, and discovering some bad crosses simply is another growth phase. It is a piece of truth that will make many slightly askew sets of data fall into better alignment and my pursuit of truth will leap from the bog of confusion with new energy.

The confusing elements of life can all be partitioned into well-categorized vats of questions. The question of how many chromosomes Jesus had is an interesting one that can go into a vat if you want it to, but if we can all agree that this is a different vat from the one that asks if He existed and if He was God on earth then perhaps our conversations can be less ridiculous and more pertinent to a genuine pursuit of truth. How about these two: 1) Is the Bible a record of things that actually happened? 2) Does the God described in the Bible fit my criteria for fairness and worthiness of my servitude? Well? Same vats or different ones?
